Our Commitment to Child Safety & Wellbeing

Safety is Our Highest Priority

At Opening Doors Play Therapy, the safety, wellbeing, and best interests of every child and young person are paramount.

As a Registered Play Therapist and sole practitioner, Sabeeha Mailanji is committed to upholding the Queensland Child Safe Standards (QFCC) and ensuring all our practices and policies are child-focused and trauma-informed.

1. Zero Tolerance for Harm

Our fundamental priority is the safety and protection of children and young people. We maintain a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse, neglect, and all forms of harm. This commitment means actively identifying, mitigating, and responding to risks. We take every concern seriously and will always act decisively to protect children in accordance with our legal and ethical obligations.

2. We Listen and Empower

We are dedicated to creating an environment where children feel secure, respected, and empowered to express themselves fully through play. We affirm our commitment to actively listen to the voices, ideas, and concerns of children and young people, ensuring they have opportunities to contribute to decisions that affect their experience at Opening Doors Play Therapy. We see children as active participants in their wellbeing.

3. Cultural Safety and Diversity

We believe safety must be inclusive. We are committed to actively providing an environment that promotes and upholds the right to Cultural Safety for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families. We respect and value all children’s diverse backgrounds, abilities, gender identities, and family structures.
