What Is The Clarified Curriculum?
The Clarified Curriculum began with curiosity. Again and again in my work as a child play therapist, I found myself asking questions that didn’t have clear, accessible answers. I wanted to understand not just what to do, but why it worked. I wanted science that could meaningfully inform practice, not sit disconnected from it. Over time, that search for clarity became a body of resources and handouts each one translating the current evidence into bite sized packages that has eventually turned into this curriculum.
As I deepened my learning and began completing a Masters of Neuroscience (by research) I became increasingly aware of the gap between research and real life. Important findings about the brain, neurodiversity, regulation, relationship, and development were available, but often buried in academic language or inaccessible to the very people who needed them most. Families were left trying to make sense of behaviours without understanding the underlying systems. Clinicians were expected to integrate complex science without always being given practical pathways to do so.
The Clarified Curriculum exists to bridge that gap.
It is a space dedicated to translating neuroscience, neurodiversity research, and evidence-informed play therapy into language that feels clear, compassionate, and usable. The intention is not to oversimplify, but to clarify, to honour the science while making it accessible enough to guide everyday interactions in therapy rooms and homes.
The curriculum is developing across two evolving streams:
The Clarified Clinician: for therapists and allied health professionals who want research-informed frameworks and practical tools without needing to navigate every journal article themselves.
The Clarified Caregiver: for parents and caregivers who want to understand the “why” beneath their child’s behaviour in language that makes sense, and strategies they can confidently apply in daily life.
Both streams are designed to complement therapeutic work, extending child-centred, relational, and regulation-focused principles beyond the session and into the broader systems that surround each child.
This library is a living, growing body of work. New resources will continue to be added as research progresses and as recurring themes and questions emerge in clinical practice. You may notice sections still taking shape or marked “coming soon.” Thank you for your patience as this space grows thoughtfully and intentionally. My commitment is to build it carefully ensuring that each resource remains clear, evidence-informed, neuro affirming, and genuinely supportive for the children, families, and clinicians it serves.
